OUR STORY
Rooted in Kane’ohe, O’ahu, Hawai’i, Pua’Ura Polynesia Cultural Academy is dedicated to perpetuating, preserving, and sharing the Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures through dance and arts while preserving its authenticity.
Symoblizing passion, love, courage, and sacrifice, “Pua’Ura” or red flower in Te Reo Tahiti, was bestowed upon by mentor and Tahiti Nui International President, Auntie Rose Perreira, to Pua’Ura Polynesia LLC’s Owner, Hula and Ori Tahiti Dancer, and 17-year Active Duty Air Force Senior Enlisted Leader, Senior Master Sergeant Edrianne Dianna “Kahiau” ‘Ekekela Flores-Arend.
In 2017, Pua’Ura Polynesia LLC was established as an Event Planning Business. In 2023, Pua’Ura Polynesia Cultural Academy was born when Kahiau bridged the gap between the military and the local Hawaiian and Polynesian dance communities while she was stationed at home at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawai’i. Kahiau relentlessly united TWO Polynesian dance legacies under the direction of the best mentors and cultural experts in one place: HULA through “Hālau Ka Liko Pua O Kalaniākea Pākīpika” and ORI TAHITI, SIVA SAMOA, & POLYNESIA as “Matamatai.”
Driven by the heart and mission: “Legacy of Service,” Pua’Ura Polynesia Cultural Academy made history and merged the mentorship of two dance legends & generational experts: Miss Aloha Hula 1991, Kumu Hula Kapua Dalire-Moe and her husband, Ra’atira Tigilau “Tino” Moe.
Today, the local JAPAN studios at YOKOTA AIR BASE & THE PACIFIC are led by Kahiau, our Alaka'i/Hura Tau, Operations Director, and Owner of Pua’Ura Polynesia LLC under the direction of Kumu Hula Kapua and Ra’atira/ Director Tino.
Kahiau brings her passion, experience, and growing expertise as a professional dancer, 2023 & 2024 Merrie Monarch Olympian, and Tahiti Fête Competitor. TOGETHER, these phenomenal leaders are driven to continue to perpetuate, preserve, and share the rich Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Polynesian cultures and traditions to our military ohana worldwide!
